Isadora's Pups 9/3/12

Well we thought all of the puppies in this litter were sold; but surprise, someone had to back out at the last minute. So if you're looking for a lovely 12 week old Blenheim puppy, this little guy may be the one. This photo was taken yesterday.

Isadora's Pups 9/3/12

Before I get into more puppy photos, let me take a moment of your time to tell you a little more about GCH CH Mayfair Isadora. Izzy's mother is Ch. Mayfair Linhope, and her father is Ch. Mayfair Dewberry - both AKC national champions. Izzy became an AKC Champion on November 6, 2010 and an AKC Grand Champion April 28, 2011.

One more thing before we get into photos. So that we can identify the individual puppies, we usually come up with some, often silly,  descriptive name for each.
This is Red:
 This is Handsome:
 And this is Little Boy:

Now see if you can identify each of the puppies.

Puppy News

The news about our puppies is that we don't currently have any puppies. The last two - from Tory and Aubrey - have gone to their new homes. The good news, if you're looking for a puppy, is that Isadora is expecting puppies early next month. We should know for certain if she is pregnant within the next week or so and, we'll know how many at the end of this month. Yea! We miss the pups.

Tory's Pups 3/30 and Aubrey's Pups 4/9/12

We still have two pups for sale. Due to unrelated, unfortunate circumstances, two prospective buyers will not be able to buy their chosen pup. They are Blenheim boys, and are healthy, happy little guys. They will be excellent companions. In this photo, the pup on the right is Tory's and is 12 weeks old. The one on the left is Aubrey's pup and is 11 weeks old. They are 80% house trained, go in and out of a doggie door on their own, very intelligent, and well socialized.

Sad News

Well, we've had a lot of good news, so we're almost certainly going to have occasional sad news. You may remember that we lost Clare on February 26, 2010. She was 15 years and 8 months. Well on May 9, 2012 we lost Marlee who was 15 years and 6 months, and at her last annual check-up, she had a healthy, clear heart - go figure. She died of a brain tumor.

Marlee with friend Joyce.
I will leave it to Robbie to describe how we feel. In a recent letter to friends, Robbie wrote, "When Marlee was six weeks old, she started to woo woo rather than bark. We knew she was very special, and would never leave us. She was incredible with a loving and happy nature that was always there - never sick, never in trouble - always ready to offer her affection when we were sad. She became our foundation tri.and lived to see her great, great, great grandchildren go to their new homes over the past month or so. (Please see Chuck's blog posted on our website 3/16/12 under Gypsy's Pups.) She loved us all and to be honest, we still cannot believe she's gone. We still look for her, but alas, she is not there. Her voice will echo forever in our wonderful memories. She leaves a gaping whole in our lives and hearts."

Aubrey's Pups 4/9/12

Aubrey had her pups on April 9, 2012.  She had two girls and a boy. All are doing well. Needless to say, Robbie and I have been a little busy for the past month (not to mention Tory and Aubrey).Thie photo was taken when the pups were just a day old.

Tory's Pups 3/30/12

There's so much to tell, I'm not sure where to start. So I'll start with puppies, YEA! Tory had five Blenheim puppies on March 30, 2012 - four boys and a girl. At four weeks and a couple of days, they're doing fine. The photo on the left was taken when the pups where a few hours old, and the photo on the right was taken when they were a few days old. Gypsy's Pups

Yesterday, Marlee wanted to go out onto our kitchen patio where Gypsy's puppies were playing. So I let her out and watched to see what she was up to. What followed was, without a doubt, the most poignant thing I have ever seen in the 20 plus years we've been breeding Cavaliers. Marlee and the puppies, one at a time, gently rubbed faces. Marlee is 15 years old and is the puppy's Great, Great, Grandmother!

Gypsy's Pups - Revised 3/16

As part of the socialization process, puppies are handled a lot by children, in this case by Alex, Lindsay, and their cousin. Oliver, their puppy, will be joining their family in a few weeks. The puppies often ride in the car. And they have an opportunity to explore and experience both inside and outside. And while they're exploring, they see, smell, and all too often taste everything they see or smell.

Gypsy's Pups - Revised 3/16

Gypsy's pups are now eight weeks old. Training to develop their social skills is coming along nicely. They use the doggie door to go pottie outside, and they are eating adult small-bites kibble. But they do enjoy a little mischief such as untying shoelaces when you and your guests are sitting around chatting. Featured in this photo is Molly enjoying a little snooze with friends. Molly will soon be joining Jean's family.

Gypsy's Pups

I am pleased to announce Gypsy's first litter - four beautiful tri-color puppies! I am also pleased to announce they are are all already spoken for. Although Gypsy will now get a year's vacation, we will be breeding another one of our girls very soon. This photo shows the four pups (two boys and two girls) at about four days old; however, they have more than doubled their weight since this photo was taken.

Show News

January 5th thru the 8th, our little sisters, Sarah and Pixie, were in the AKC show at Palm Springs, and both continue to show well. Sarah won Winner's Bitch (a four point major) one of the days and is just a few points shy of becoming an AKC Champion. And Pixie, who is already an AKC Champion, won Best of Opposite three out of four days. So Pixie has won all of the requirements and almost all of the points needed to become a Mayfair Grand Champion.

Health News

GREAT NEWS! On Jan. 2, Robbie took Marlee (15 yrs. old) and Hope (13 yrs. old) to Dr. M. Lesser for their annual heart check-up, and the results are great. Marlee, at 15, is still heart clear. Hope, at 13, has a moderate grade three murmur which is unchanged from last year.
