Hi Folks, once again I feel the need to apologize for not posting - at least occasionally. I know that at lease a few of you like to keep up with what's going on at Mayfair Cavaliers. As usual, Robbie is still working very hard at her place of employment as well as at home. And me, well I'm lounging around at home. This time because I foolishly broke my right femur. Silly me. I don't recommend it.
You might, by now, be wondering why I have posted a couple of photographs of a very attractive, eight week old, male, tri-color puppy. Unfortunately, the person who was number one on our waiting list and had selected this little guy was not able to follow through with the placement. GCh Mayfair Elfindale (Elfie) - Born August 6, 2018, Elfie's second litter is two days old in this photo. Their eyes and ears are closed, and all they can do at this point is eat and move around just a little bit by using swimming motions. They're healthy and are eating well. Yea!

Hi folks. Sorry for the long gap in updates. I've resolved my technical issues (with a little help from my friends), and I'll start with our latest: our dear little Tillie has had her first litter - one girl and three boys. They're five weeks old, their eyes and ears are open, they're walking, running, biting, and very, very curious - as into everything. In my next post, I'll introduce you to Elfie. She's a lovely little tri-color and hopefully, our next little mother.
Top photo, Sarah at 7 years old, was entered in the Veteran Bitches class at a recent Beverly Hills Kennel Club show. She was awarded Best Veteran and Best of Opposite Sex. Yes, she does still "have it". Sarah and Pixie (bottom photo), Sarah's littermate, are both AKC Champions and Grand Champions.
In the first photo, they're two weeks old; and in the second, they're four weeks old. It's fascinating watching them grow so fast, both mentally and physically. In the first photo, they're about 7.5 oz. each. In the second, a mere two weeks later, they've grown to about 1.5 pounds apiece. In the first, their eyes and ears are closed and they use a swimming motion to move around their whelping box. In the second photo (a mere two weeks later), their eyes and ears are open, they're walking (more or less) upright on their four paws, and they've become aware of their littermates. And, as you can see, they're already beginning to look like little dogs - and very pretty ones at that. Will keep you posted.

OUR BEST WISHES FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND A HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR.
When Dina was 12 to 14 weeks old, she would follow me around when I was working in our back garden. I don't know whether it was the pure joy of being with me or her interest in landscaping, but I grew to really love her companionship while I worked. In the above photo (taken by Robbie), we were inspecting something in the planter. Dina left us when she was 14 or 15 weeks old to live with Linda and Dave Frieden. She's back with us for about 12 weeks to birth ("whelp" for the purist) and raise the puppies.
The beginning of week four, we move the puppies from the whelping box (in our guest's bedroom) out to our family room. This is the beginning of the socialization process - a process that is vital to their becoming the terrific companions they were born to be. In the photo above, mom and the little ones are all a little bewildered by their new environment.
Folks, at long last we again have puppies available. One week ago,
Dina, our beautiful tri-color Champion, gave birth to a litter of six!
There are four girls and two boys. And now for the good part: they are all Blenheim (chestnut & white). Dad
is a Blenheim, but one would expect Blenheim to Tri would produce some
of each color - right? Oh well, we're happy to have six, beautiful
puppies. And that's not just pride talking. See for yourself:
First having two litters this close together is good and not-good. Good if one mother, for one reason or another should temporarily loose her milk, the other mother can fill in for her (which happened in this case). Not-good because it becomes very confusing. When the puppies are between three and six weeks old, separation of litters is important. As the pups grow older, the difference based on age becomes less significant; they spend more and more time together, until they are together all the time. So, trying to totally separate the litters in the photo CD that we usually send home with the puppies is not practical.

Second, for various reasons, we still have two lovely Blenheim girls that have not been spoken for. We took three photos with the intention of selecting one to post here; but they are so photogenic, we couldn't select just one, so we are attaching all three here.
All are growing nicely and their intelligence is stunning. They've been going thru the doggie door without assistance since they were barely six weeks old (they're eight weeks old as of last Thursday). They are already exploring their environment to discover what they can and cannot manipulate. They spend most of their days outside on our patio off the kitchen, and they particularly enjoy their play mat (activity gym).
And surprise ... we have four when we were expecting only three. We have one Blenheim girl, a Blenheim boy, and two tri-colored boys, and of course, they were born on February 21.

As you may know, we move the pups from the whelping box in our guest bedroom to a pen we've set up in our living room to start socializing them in the kind of environment they will live in when they go to their new homes. The point is: the living room now looks more like the Kansas City stockyards.

In the top photo, Pixie and her litter sister, Sarah, are getting acquainted with the hour-old puppies.
It's been way too long since my last post. At Mayfair, there've been few new developments. First, Cookie has had her first litter of puppies. Born on January 30, 2014 around 5:15 PM, we have five Blenheim pups ranging from 4.6 to 9.3 ounces. There are four girls and one boy, latter with a perfect Blenheim spot. This photo was taken when they were about four hours old.

Second, an ultrasound shows that Pixie is pregnant with at least three puppies. Yea. They are due in about three weeks. So please stay in touch - this is going to be exciting, Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06391535235557404999noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4865377198490844025.post-21931764144907923922013-11-14T16:11:00.000-08:002013-11-14T16:11:02.363-08:00Gypsy's Pups 9/24/13

I'm terribly sorry it's taken so long to post again, but needless to say, I'm working on a new computer (which has already spent a week in the shop). It's taken a month just to find the right buttons to push. Fortunately, in spite of my troubles, Gypsy has taken great care of her pups. They are beautiful, very smart, healthy, and growing like weeds (as they say). The following photo shows a family visiting their baby girl on a Sunday afternoon. I will try over the next few days to publish a close-up of each pup.
I just realized I haven't posted since Isadora's litter last year. Anyway, Isadora had another litter today!!! She had three pups - two boys and a girl. We have bred Tori, and she is due in about two months. We will also be breeding Cookie in the next few days, and she will be having her puppies in about nine weeks. Sounds like we'll be busy. So if you're looking for a lovely 12 week old Blenheim puppy, this little guy may be the one. This photo was taken yesterday.

Izzy's mother is Ch. Mayfair Linhope, and her father is Ch. Mayfair Dewberry - both AKC national champions. Izzy became an AKC Champion on November 6, 2010 and an AKC Grand Champion April 28, 2011.

One more thing before we get into photos. So that we can identify the individual puppies, we usually come up with some, often silly, descriptive name for each.
This is Red:
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Izzy's puppies - three Blenheim boys weighing in at 4.8 oz, 7.3 oz, and 7.9 oz. Here is a picture of the pups about 24 hours old. We'll follow up with mug shots in the next few days.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06391535235557404999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4865377198490844025.post-63672255125055433972012-08-07T11:32:00.001-07:002012-08-07T11:32:12.220-07:00Puppy NewsThe news about our puppies is that we don't currently have any puppies. The last two - from Tory and Aubrey - have gone to their new homes. The good news, if you're looking for a puppy, is that Isadora is expecting puppies early next month. We should know for certain if she is pregnant within the next week or so and, we'll know how many at the end of this month. Yea! We miss the pups.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06391535235557404999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4865377198490844025.post-31015468966517070312012-06-26T23:15:00.002-07:002012-06-26T23:19:35.055-07:00Tory's Pups 3/30 and Aubrey's Pups 4/9/12

We still have two pups for sale. Due to unrelated, unfortunate circumstances, two prospective buyers will not be able to buy their chosen pup. They are Blenheim boys, and are healthy, happy little guys. They will be excellent companions. In this photo, the pup on the right is Tory's and is 12 weeks old. The one on the left is Aubrey's pup and is 11 weeks old. They are 80% house trained, go in and out of a doggie door on their own, very intelligent, and well socialized.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06391535235557404999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4865377198490844025.post-57582505693084766862012-05-22T16:24:00.001-07:002012-05-22T16:24:18.007-07:00Sad News

Well, we've had a lot of good news, so we're almost certainly going to have occasional sad news. You may remember that we lost Clare on February 26, 2010. She was 15 years and 8 months. Well on May 9, 2012 we lost Marlee who was 15 years and 6 months, and at her last annual check-up, she had a healthy, clear heart - go figure. She died of a brain tumor.
I will leave it to Robbie to describe how we feel. In a recent letter to friends, Robbie wrote, "When Marlee was six weeks old, she started to woo woo rather than bark. We knew she was very special, and would never leave us. She was incredible with a loving and happy nature that was always there - never sick, never in trouble - always ready to offer her affection when we were sad. She became our foundation tri.and lived to see her great, great, great grandchildren go to their new homes over the past month or so. (Please see Chuck's blog posted on our website 3/16/12 under Gypsy's Pups.) She loved us all and to be honest, we still cannot believe she's gone. We still look for her, but alas, she is not there. Her voice will echo forever in our wonderful memories. She leaves a gaping whole in our lives and hearts."Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06391535235557404999noreply@blogger.com0
